Taking the Lead in China Tea Market
---- The Tea Expo (Guangzhou) 2006 Retrospect

Organized by Guangzhou Yuexiu Exhibition Co., Ltd, the Tea Expo (Guangzhou) 2006 was successfully closed on the 27th November. From 23rd to 27th, the exposition has totally attracted about 80,000 visitors. Among those, 26% of the visitors come from the other regions apart from Guangzhou; some of them also come from Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam and Russia, making the tea expo an international event instead of a regional tea fair only.

The biggest exposition
According to the statistics, almost 600 booths with a full range of tea-related exhibits, from premium teas, tea sets, to tea packaging materials and more, were displayed in a superior fairground of 40,000 square meters, and around 500 tea experts, retailers, wholesalers, importers & exporters, who are from famous tea-producing provinces and cities in mainland China, like Yunnan, Menghai, Wuyishan, Chaozhou, and so on participated in the exposition, offering visitors various choices for the tea and the tea products in good quality and at favourable prices. Whatever is the exhibition scale, the output of the visitors, the amount of deal orders, or the popularity in the society, the tea expo has achieved better records than other tea fairs, so it is regarded as the largest tea show of its kind in China.

Wonderful theme activities
The tea expo held in the Continental Center Pazhou was also characterized by a collection of wonderful theme activities, which were highly appreciated by the visitors, the exhibitors and the mediums. During 5 days of the fair period, people were captivated by those highlighted activities, the "Free Tea Tasting", for example, it attracted about 10,000 people to gather in the open square to taste the free teas from renowned tea industries. Featuring wonderfulness and artfulness of Chinese tea culture, the "Tea Performance" and "Tea Competition" drew audiences' applause while these performances staged on the spot. The popular activities also included the "Chinese Quality Tea Competition", "Charity and Commercial Auction", "The Arts and Calligraphy Exhibition" and "The Marketing Seminar for Chinese Tea", etc., all of which were strongly impressed on people's memory.

Highly praised by insiders and the publics
According to the organizer's survey, nearly 95% of the exhibitors revealed that they had achieved their expected goals for the sales. A renowned tea industry from Menghai stated that their company's 36 kinds of teas had been sold well and had reached the deal amount of RMB4, 000, 000 for 5 days. Many refined teas and tea sets also became the hot choice for buyers. Among which, the Pu'er is highlighted, which is the most must-have tea in the buyers' sourcing list. As reported, a gift industry had totally purchased 2 tons of Pu¡¯er teas in 2 days. Not only the publics showed their good feelings about the tea expo, but the insiders highly praised it as well. Several mediums in Mainland China issued the reports about the tea expo before, during and after the fair. "The splendid success in the Tea Expo not only strengthened the leading position of Guangdong tea market in China, but also it effectively stimulated the popularity of tea culture, helping the insiders and the publics get many useful market intelligences." remarked Mr. Wu Xiduan, the secretary of China Tea Marketing Association.

Realizing that Guangzhou is the biggest gathering and distribution center of tea industry in China, the organizer showed their enough confidence in the prospect of the tea industry in China.
