China’s leading show reached up its new high.
Expansion plan unveiled for year 2010.

Organized by China Tea Marketing Association, executed by Guangzhou YI-WU International Exhibition Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Tea Expo 2009 reached up its new high in terms of exhibitors’ number, exhibition area and visitors volume at the Continental Center on 26 – 30 November. It manifests that Chinese tea industry is still on the track of rapid growth boosted by the continuously increased domestic tea consumption. Therefore, the Organizer unveiled its plans next year for Tea Expo Macao 2010 and Tea Expo Guangzhou 2010.

Rooted in China’s largest tea distribution and consumption market, the Guangzhou Tea Expo has long been seen as the barometer for the Chinese tea market development. This year’s tea show covered an exhibition area of up to 30,000sq.meters and 1,100 booths fully occupied the fairgrounds. A large variety of tea types and tea – products from 450 exhibitors from China and overseas countries were displayed, which sees a 10% increase compared with last year (409 exhibitors). 70% of the exhibitors are brand suppliers from China’s major production hubs. And 10% of the exhibiting companies are from overseas markets. Vietnam Tea Association (VITAS) and Taiwan Tea Manufacturers’ Association built up beautiful pavilions to promote their images and fine teas. Other exhibiting countries include Australia, Korea and Malaysia. A total volume of 98,673 tea traders and enthusiasts were attracted to visit, which is a slight growth from last year’s number. As per the Organizer’s after-show survey, over 90% of all exhibitors expressed satisfaction with the marketing effects achieved at the tea expo. “We are most professional in China. People like this kind of professional feeling, that’s why we have another 200 companies on the waiting list for participation.” said Ms. Qiao Dongmei, sales manager of the Organizer.

With 15 themed events and activities held during the period, it has offered a diversified platform to the industry people and to the public. For the first time, coffee products were integrated into the show, as Coffee Expo Guangzhou was initiated concurrently at the same venue. Though there was only a display of a few hundred sq. meters, success was reported by the co-organizer, Guangzhou Coffee Association, “We are very satisfied with the first trial, when you face a considerable volume of audience everyday. Obviously, people enjoy coffee as well. I have seen great potential from this humble beginning”, said Mr. Dickson Pan, the President of Guangzhou Coffee Association. For international dialogue, Asian Tea Trade and Cooperation Meeting gave a perfect opportunity among industry people. Joined by representatives from Australian, Hungarian and Taiwan, Dr. Nguyen Kim Phong, Chairman of Vietnam Tea Association had intensive exchange with his Chinese counterpart, Mr. Wang Qin, Deputy Chairman of China Tea Marketing Association. As one of the most influential tea shows, the Guangzhou Tea Expo has been reported by over 20 major national and local media agencies, which ensures a perfect exposure for the industry and its clients.

In the perfect mood of tea marketplace, the Organizer released its plan for year 2010. There will be two tea expos to be held respectively in Macao and Guangzhou – two Asia’s most exciting cities next year. Noticeably, the Guangzhou Tea Expo will be drastically expanded in the new venue. There will be much more on display there!
