On June 2nd, Press Conference for the 2010 China (Macau) International Tea Expo (also called the Macau Tea Expo) will be held at No263, Edif. China Civil Plaza, 19 andar, Macau. Senior Manager of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Mr. Agostinho Vong, Honarable President Professor Chuk Yau of Macao Tea Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Li Guangtao, the general manger of YI-WU International Exhibition Co., Ltd., and Mr. Joao Ma, general manger of YUE XIU Exhitbition Co., Ltd the Executor of Tea Expo Macao, and local exhibitors, media attended the Press Conference. According to a disclosure made from the Press Conference, this session of Macau Tea Expo will be held at The Venetian Macao CotaiExpo from June 10th to 13th. The exhibition covers an area of up to 8,000 square meters with 250 booth shells. Corporations from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Brazil and other countries will be participating proactively the expo. By a great support from Macau Trade Investment Promotion Institute, Macau Department of Tourism, Macau Civil Affairs Authorities and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, this year’s of expo has created the largest tea event ever in the history of Macau.
This year’s Macau Tea Expo covers a rich selection of tea items. According to the Press Conference, the tea exhibits are ranged from the top 6 categories of tea and more than thousands of tea items. They are Iron Buddha (Tie Guan Yin), Wu Yi Shan Clovershrub (Da Hong Pao), Wu Yi Yan Tea, Lapsang Souchong Tea (the world’s earliest black tea planted in Fukkien province), Yun Nan Pu’er Tea, Sze-Chuan Tibetan Tea, Hu Nan An Hua Black Tea, Hu Nan Xin Yang Fresh Tea with Leaf Bud, Chao Zhou Dan-cong Tea, Long-jing Tea from the west lake of Zhe Jiang, Taiwan Dongding Oolong Tea, Taiwan Pouchong Tea, Taiwan Oriental Beauty Tea, A’li Moutain Tea, etc. In addition, there are also great varieties of tea-related accessories, such as the Yixing Pottery Tea Pots from Jiangsu Province, the ceramic tea tools from Jingde Town of Jiangxi city and some of the wooden-, bamboo-, stone-made and carved craftworks and tea-related furniture.
As the Press Conference reports, the Macau Tea Expo puts its effort to establishing a communication platform between Chinese and foreign trade, especially to the trade cooperation between China and Brazil. On the first day of expo, The Sino-Brazil Economy and Trade Cooperation Forum will be held. It gathers industry elites from world’s biggest tea- and coffee- planting countries to discuss about significant agenda and up-to-date information on the industry in order to unfold a new market and to win over a preliminary opportunity for the corporations between two nations.
On June 11th, the organizer will be executing a Brazilian Coffee Promotion. Visitors may have the chance to taste world’s tastiest coffees. Not only will Macau become the best platform for tea and coffee business between China and Brazil, but also it will become that for the world’s tea and coffee business.
Industry people in Macau attend this year’s expo with high enthusiasm. Mr. Tsang Chi Fai, the famous tea expert and honorary chairman for the tea art association, is going to organize and hold a seminar on tea leaf study. He will evaluate and discuss about tea and its quality to the visitors and teach them how to verify a genuine Tie Guan Yin Tea (the Iron Buddha) and Pu’Er Tea. Dr. Qiu, senior tea expert and president to the Board of Directors for Macau Innovative Technology Center, is going to talk about tea histories and its stories by scientific, artistic and cultural views and to share his joys of tea-tasting with visitors. Professional baristas for the Hong-Kong-style milk tea making in Macau made up their minds to compete fiercely at The Macau International Golden Tea Competition. 29 well-known traditional Chinese painters are invited to the Macau Traditional Chinese Painting Show to showcase 60 of their great works. The Macau Tea Culture Exhibit, held by Macau Civil Affairs Authorities, where some classic tea antiques decorated in Macau’s traditional tea houses will be displayed. These activities, held in correspondence with the Chinese folk dance and other tea-related art shows, have more or less cast highlights on this year’s Tea Expo.
This year’s Macau Tea Expo promotes itself on visitor participation. All visitors may enter the exhibition hall without charge. The fair organizer has arranged free shuttle bus service to provide a convenient transportation to the visitors. They could take the shuttle bus to the exhibition hall on the opposite side of Lai Lai Supermarket, at the Macau Square and the Rua do Cunha Road in Typa. One bag of tea gift will be given away to each visitor with a gift exchange coupon upon their entrance to the fairground. Inside the fairground, visitors may participate with the Lucky Draw Activity and may have chance to win big prizes of exquisite tea gifts and daily accommodation in the VIP suite of Venetian Resort and Hotel.
It is said that earlier in year 2008, Macau has held successfully the first session of Tea Expo. On 23rd – 25th of 2008, the 1st session of Macau Tea Expo was held at The Venetian Macao CotaiExpo. During the exhibition, Mr. Ho Hau Wah, the Former Chief Executive of Macau SAR, visited the Expo while Mr. Chui Sai On, former director to the Bureau of Social Culture and current Chief Executive of Macau SAR, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Expo. The Sino-African Private Enterprises Co-operation Forum (Macau) and The Macau and Sino-African Business and Trade Service Seminar held by the fair organizer had brought great influence at home and abroad.
The Macau Tea Expo held in year 2008 is an exposition transferred successfully to Macau by the specialized brand expo – the China (Guangzhou) International Tea Expo, which is the most influential, the largest scale and the most popular specialized expo in Mainland China.
